Cafe and Daily 5
In our classroom we will use the Daily 5 (created by Gail Boushey and Joan Moser) structure during our language arts block. This structure helps students develop independence in the areas of reading and writing. Students will work independently, in small group and/or one on one with me during the rounds of Daily 5. These rounds include Read to Self, Read to Someone, Work on Writing, Word Work, and Listen to Reading. To Learn more about the the Daily 5 structure click on the link or continue to explore our website.
Along with Daily 5 we will use the CAFE system. CAFE is an acronym for Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, and Expanding Vocabulary. This system puts an emphasis on students setting goals and working independently and with me to reach their goals. We will work together in whole class settings or in one-on-one conferences.
